Well, i have 2 experiences actually! The first is when i learned how to drive automatic, and the second is when i learned how to drive standard! My automatic days were VERY interesting..like when you’re in Park, and you “think” you can DRIVE!! Not good..thats when your Dad comes running!
Standard drinving is WAY more fun than automatic..trust me people! Theres nothing like stahling in the middle of crossing the street with on coming traffic! Or driving to church, and you stahl ever 2 minutes…Very Humiliating! However, that doesn’t compare to one experience i had. Me and 6 friends were going camping-a 2.5 hour drive-and i only had had my standard car for not even 2 weeks, so i was still very new to it. Anyway, my hand break doesn’t work, so when we drove onto our ferry, i hadn’t relized yet that parking in 1 gear would do the same as a park brake( sorry for though who are lost in this standard mess already!). Anyway, this ferry was loaded to the tops, and so my car was on a tilt. All of a sudden one of my friends screams, and i realize that we are moving forward-not a good idea when you’re about 5 feet from a rushing river! Anyway, we made it accross to the other side, and of course i had to be the first to drive. Well, theres this huge hill on the other side, so as i was driving up, i was about to shift to the next gear when my car starts making these very handicap noises. I had no idea what was going on, so i pull over, while 7 other vehicles drive past me starring like crazy…i don’t blame them! I ended up going up this hill at 20 kms an hour, thinking my car wasn’t going to make it with another 2 hours of driving! I got a phone call from my Dad not soon after. A guy had called him to say that something was VERY wrong with my car…he had seen and hear all my cars noises! Well, i found out that my car was perfeclty okay. It just has a small motor, so i just have to putt-puut up hills! haha I have learned lots about standards since then…but my advice to other who drive standard or who want to is this…make sure you know EVERY THING about it before you go and drive long distances!
Anyway…that was probably more info than you wanted to know!
I don’t have any real unusal stories from learning to drive! My mom taught me to drive and the few times my dad tried I think we ended out “lessons” with me in tears! I did however leave my car running while I was eating in chick-fil-a. The manager came up and asked me what I was driving and preceeded to tell me that my car was still runnning in the parking lot. Hey at least I put it in park! 🙂
Hey! I pretty much drive 3 cars often, my brother’s, my best friend’s and my mom’s. They are all standard. I’ve have stalled in each one of them but I am getting better-! Intresting stories? Sadly not. No accdients, no panic attacks. But there was nervous driving in snowstorms; never fun. Anywho..!

I cant say that i have had any crazy driving experiences. OHHH….just kidding! I do remember one. It was on one of the last days od school before summer break. and i guess it was sorta like Mary’s story! I got o school and without thinkin about it i just took my keys out, assuming that it would shut off like vehicals usually do. But I drive an old old car and they do not always do what they should!LOL 🙂 Anyway I was almost done my social exam when the principal walked into the classroom and asked who was the owner of a white pontiac? the only thought that was running thru my mind was…….”OH NO! NOT AGAIN!” Because I had been havin a lot of issues with it already! anyway i found out that my car was still running, and had been for the 3or4 hrs. Oh and there was some sort of green fluid running from underneath. after trying for a while we finally were able to turn off the engine. Needless to say, I did not drive that old piece of metal for a LONG time after that because i did not trust it! Sorry for makin it so long! LOL:)
