Last week was our first week serving the orphans and lepers in India- and we have already seen our father working both in us and through us in amazing ways! Last Wednesday was my team's first day in our leper colony, and Sarah Stapp and I were looking around for people to meet. Our translator had not arrived yet, and since this group spoke Tamiel (a southern Indian language) our little knowledge of Hindi was not enough to begin communicating. We were standing there, praying for the language barrier to be knocked down, when a little woman came out of her home and approached us. She did not speak Hindi, but through her hand motions we were able to understand that she wanted us to pray for her. We had no idea what she needed prayer for, but we put our hands on her shoulders and began to pray. We did not understand her needs, and she did not understand our words, but none of this mattered. Our father speaks every language and knows all our needs! This woman recognized that our prayers were powerful because the one we serve is powerful. This was particularly amazing considering we were standing 20 feet from the building site for a new Hindu temple. Although most of these people are still bound by this religion, we continue to build relationships and put our hope in our father that one day every tongue will confess who he is.ย Thank you for your thoughts and prayers!
